1. People who live in Costa Rica are called "Ticos". I like that nickname ; )
2. Christopher Columbus discovered and named Costa Rica in 1502! Crazy right?
3. Costa Rica prides itself on being the "Land of Peace" as they have had over 100 years of political stability. This to me is very inspiring and makes me want to go there even more.
4. The national dish of Costa Rica is "Gallo Pinto", pre-cooked rice and beans fried together with onions, peppers, cilantro and more. Sounds pretty good to me!
5. Famous for the country’s biological diversity, varied geography, volcanoes and rainforest. ¼ of the country protected by the government. I can imagine it is absolutely beautiful in person.
6. September and October are the wettest months of the year. January through March is the driest time of the year. Although I would love to visit at anytime, I would prefer it be in the drier months, wouldn't want to rain on my parade.
7. Costa Rica has a population of 4.5 million and a life expectancy of almost 77 years, one of the highest in the world. I honestly think it might be because of the peace in the community, it would be nice to live in such a calm and serene country.
8. There are 800 miles of coastline in Costa Rica between the Pacific and Caribbean coasts. The coastlines would be an amazing place to visit.
9. Costa Rica's official language is Spanish, though a large number of its citizens are bilingual. English, due to its status as the international language of tourists, is the most common second language in Costa Rica.
So as you can see Costa Rica would be a great place to visit for many reason, the peaceful community as well as ability communicate, and for the beautiful environment!
